Chapters 7 & 8

Frank is growing up and is being treated more as an adult than a child. Find evidence of his maturity from these chapters. Reflect why some of his elders treat him as a grown up instead of as a 10 year old. How does Frank react to being treated this way? Does he like it or revolt against it? Is it too much for him?

I think we have examples of that he was groing up when he start saying things like "I don't want those beutifull protestand gilrs to be lost", then when he not even hesitates to sign up to see girls naked. The fact that he was bleeding by his nouse shows medicly speaking that he was growing up. It is hard because when you are in that age is dificult for parents to comunicate with their childen and even harder for adolescents to talk abour what is going on in Frank's head. He thougt it was positive because about what he thinks nobody colud complain.

On the other hand I believe it was goos to have MR. O'Halloran as a teacher because they could ask questions, and made sure they understood, thougt how to work for others. His Father speak to Frank about his future in America a contrast of what he use to tell him all the time about tale stories; he likes that still, because for him is a invaluable time he spend with his Dad. I think he started his carreer as a writer and Mr. Timoney influences him with his advaices and later we can anlize more of his inside when he writes about Jesus in Limerick.

I almost forget; Althoug he was working at the age of 9 he was realy responsible in school. I am sure it was to much for a kid, most of us didn't have to work when we were kids, and even I only study it was hard. But he never complain, he gave everything to his mom.

Frank had some responsibilities at his early age, and people treated him as an adult. He had two jobs. Frank sold newspapers for Uncle Pat, and he read for Mr. Timoney. They paid him and with that money he could help in some way to his mother. Frank also had to write a composition for Mr. O’Dea, and he showed through it a mature way of thinking. It helped him to go to another level in his classes. I think Frank started to like the way people was treating him because he felt that people trust in some way on him. In my opinion Frank became more mature taking those kinds of responsibilities at his early age, and it helped him to realize that life is not easy. For me it was not too much for him. He learned to help his family.

One of the evidence is that he started to look at the girls in a different way, he even paid his friend to let him see his sister
naked.Another evidence is that he try to hide his emotions for example when his mother slapped him on the face he didn't cry because he was the man of the house.Frank's grandmother thought he was old enough to work and make money for his family.I think frank liked the idea of bein capable of help his family and to be the man of the house something that his father couldn't do.

Cecelia oke Frank was a very clever boy and most of his behaviour was like elderly person, he can sing and very good in selling things , like news paper. Frank doesn't care about nature of the job all his need is to get money and make sure that himself, mother, and brothers eat. Frank doesn;t like hunger. when he sell paper he got his money from uncle pat . He has human feeling for who ever dies, he wrote composition to Mr o.Dea. He didn;t want to see girls naked . Frank belived that he has right to do anythings he want, but he didn't like the way people taught about him. his was to active than his age and his an industrous boy . cecelia oke.

In my personal opinion, Frank is going to a really tough situation.A nine year old child should be focused on his school and preparing a good future, but unfortunately due to the circumstances that we all know he has to work and at the same time put up with his silly grandma that is always getting on his case. How can people be so idiotic and get so manipulated by the Church? A kid is just a kid Im sure God understands that. Also everybody expect this kids to be good in school, but how can u think rite when your stomach is empty?. Mentally Frank is changing also, the way he looks at the girls is not the same and last but not least the things he has to put with it make him very mature

He was growing up in certain fields as; with girls he showed more attention on them and he did not care about their religion he just like the way they look, he also wanted to fight his uncle after he tried to fight Declan, I think this is the most consistent fact that he was growing up because any kid don’t think to ‘jump on” their relatives or hitting them, usually children just accept what an adult says and they shut up. He also confronted his dad when he was going to waste the money from Alphei and told mom, thereafter he went looking for him and he knew that what his father was doing was a sin and this shows that his views are more clearly that ever, and he would never do what his father does.

I think that Frnk start to growing by saying he doesn't care about a lot of things. He started to take of his brother, and sister at a very young age.His life stile of what he been thow made him mature.I think Frank likes that People treat him like an adult.

It wasn't fair that people treated Frank like an adult not like than a child. I think some of these things influenced him, in good and bad aspects for example he learned to help his mother when he was working. He could have been thought that he had to work if he wanted to give his mother the best. And if he help his mother he can learned not to be like his father an alcoholic. He had a lot of responsabilities since he was a child.Frank was treated like an adult when he was in the hospital because people said that he had blood from a soldier and he had to be obedient and strong. In my opinion he was treated as an adult most of the time because when Margarette died and his mother was deppresed he was treated like an adult because he had to take care of his little brothers even thogh him selft was just a child.
