Chapters 5 & 6 and Fourth Class

We have discussed how the McCourts, like many other families in the lanes, were frequently hungry and ill. Starvation and disease had been recurring problems in Ireland from the English occupation to the Potato Famine and up to Frank's youth. Give some examples from chapter 5 & 6 of how hunger drives Frank's behavior in positive and negative ways. Also, think of how Frank and his friends deal with serious diseases like the Consumption and ultimately death.

One of the behavior how hunger drive Frank in a positive way is in school when just to get a piece of apple he try to answer all the questions. But hunger brought the bad size of him when him and his friend broke into a farm and stole milk and apples.Frank and his friends many times had to shared the room with people infected with the consumption for example Mr. Clohessy that he rather die in his house than go to the hospital.

Frank and his friends were starving all the time, the first time hunger made him do bad was when He ate Mr. Bill Galvin's lunch, he try to lie to the guy and his grandma; then later they climb a wall to steal milk and apples. The good things are that they as friends share to each other the little food they have and. They were stimulated by Dotty to study Math. The specific person that was closed to him is Paddy Clohessy's father who was really sick with Consumption having contact with his weak children and may be spreading the virus every where. Erika

Hunger drives Frank's behavior in positive and negative ways. For instance, when Angela told his mother that Frank could take Bill’s dinner to his room. Frank didn’t resist the smell of the food, and he ate Bill’s food. He behaved in this negative way because he was hungry.
It was a torture for Frank to watch Mr. O’Neill peeled the apple every day. Mr. O’Neill encouraged to his students to study. He gave a piece of the apple to those students whom answer the questions he gave in his class. It was a positive way for Frank’s behavior because his master was encouraged him to learn in class.
Fintan invited Frank to his house to eat. He said Frank you always look hungry. Frank was in Fintan’s house and his mother Mrs. Slattery gave a sandwich to Frank. It is a negative way because how he was hungry he had to beg for food to his friends.
Frank was hungry, so he drunk milk for a cow. He got under the cow and pulled on a teat, but the cow kicked and moved, and Frank thought that the cow was going to kill him. It was a negative way of Frank’s behavior because the cow could kill him, but how he was hungry he did it.
Frank and his friends deal with serious diseases like the Consumption and ultimately death. When Frank was in Paddy’s house he had to deal with the Consumption. Paddy’s father was sick. He had Consumption and Frank was scared to get the sickness. How they were lack of food and other things, Frank and his friends were exposed to get this kind of disease easier.

I personally think that one of the worst acts you can commit is stealing, however if I was starving all the time like Frank did, i wouldnt think about it twice, i guess its human instinct.Him and his friends broke into a farm to steal milk and some other stuff and personally i understand why he did it.In my opinion when we are needed for something like Frank(for food) we try to do our best to get it, and as perfect example we have the situation in which the teacher offers a piece of his apple to whoever answers his questions the right way.
Paddy's father was really sick and unfortunately Frank had to be exposed to his sickness.Imagine if us as healthy people are scared to even approach somebody with a bad cold, think about this weak kids that had to deal with Comsumption which was a terrible disease and could even lead you to death.

Roman. Pour Framk McCourt was always hungry. He could not deliver Mr. Galvin's lunch and ate it. Than he lied to his grandmother and to Mr.Galvin about eating the food.Pour Frank. He stole end ate apples. He tryed to get milk from caw with risk for his life. All those couses was a negative ways of Frank's behavior.I can not to condemn him.He was 7-8 years old when it was happened. It is not easy in those ages be hungry and strong pcychologycaly.
The positive way of Frank's behavior was stimulaited by some of his school's teacher. Mr. O'Neill peeld the apple every class. The piece of the apple was as a prize for student who was answered the questions rite.
Some of Frank's father was very sick. Desease, which he had, was Consumption. It was extrimly dangerous bacterial infection and Frank was scared to get it. Pour Frank McCourt.

Frank is starving, he’s suffering for food, he still like the smell of food and he would be happy smelling it, and he’d get food at any change at his situation. That’s why he ate bill’s food, he tried one piece of potato and he could not stop and finished all food. In school he was encouraged to participate in class by their master, he asked them many things and if their answer was acceptable they will get apple. Since paddy and frank were starving they could not go back to school and they just stayed wondering the streets looking for food, they went to a farm were they drank milk from a cow and they also stole apples.

the hunger change frank and his friends behavior in negative way such as steal, without see the consequences, also going to places that frank could get infected that it could cause their death.
in my opinion that the master did in the class with the apple was the way to get them to realized that they could get more than the apple if they study hard and finish with the school....liliana
