Chapter 2 and Second Class
The McCourts return to Ireland- first the north and then the south. Even though the welcome they recieved was not a warm one, they were still helped by many people. Discuss some of the individuals who did help the family and explain why you think they helped the McCourts. Also think about how they did it. Were they happy to help? Did it come from their hearts or was it out of obligation?

The first person who helped them was the priest, he took them in the car to the house, I think he did it because he Knew they were catholics to see them in church every week; It wasn't from his heart. Mr. Heggarty gave him some money from his heart, he was sorry for the family. A guard took them to a safe place, from his heart. The sargent was happy to help them, his wife treat them good, she was move to a compation, Knowing that she lost a baby girl and she Knew how they were feeling. St. Vincent de Paul Society help by obligation. The other women hepl them looking for something back.
Erika said that the other women outside the Vincent de Paul Society helped because they wanted something back do you agree? Disagree? Why?
I think that some of the people, who help the Mc. Court family, help them because they really wanted. and some of them help for obligation. For example, the guard help them, because he wanted, maybe when he saw the little children. He really wanted help them, because the Mc. Court family was a poor family. I think that's the reson that he offered refuge, tea, bread, to them. Other people who help the family, I think they help them for abligation. For example, the priest help them because he wanted, to see them in the church. And the real reason that why he help , was because they were catholics. I think that aunt Anggie help them because her mother foced her. She didn't like the children. And I think she felt jelous from Angela because she had four children and she didn't have any.
There were several people that helped the McCourts. When they were on the road to Granpa McCourt's house, a priest gave a ride to the family. I think he helped them because as a Catholic preacher he had a commiment to help them as Catholic that the family was, too. A police and his wife also helped Frank's family. They helped the family because they saw the hard situation that the family was living. For me, they were happy to help them. It came from their hearts. The St. Vincent de Paul Society and a woman in a grocery store also helped the family providing some food. I think that they helped them because they felt an obligation to do it.
Nora accompanied Angela to the grocery store to make sure the saleswoman did not cheat on Angela. I don't think she was looking for something back.
Many People helped the McCourts, some did it because they wanted to help and some of them did it just because they felt the obligation to do it. E.g. the priest who gave them a ride becuase they were catholics and the St. Vincent de Paul Society helped them because they supose to be a good people who likes to help as a society, but the sargeant and his wife helped the family giving them a refuge and food becuase they really wanted to do it
There were some people like the sargent, his wife and Nora that helped them because they wanted. The priest helped them because they were Catholics and St. Vincent de Paul Society by obligation. It Seemed like their family helped them by obligation but i think that they may didn't have the recourses to do it. Malachy's mother didn't have room or money for six people, Angela mother felt anger and anxiety over her daughter's condition and Anggie was jealous from Angela because she had no children of her own. I think their family restraint was not the result of unkindness but of worry.
first of all, most of the people that helped Mc court's family, they did it by goodwill, and they were very thankful. Also it was a shame that their own family didn't help them at all,and the only help that their received from Mc court's family was only the food that they received from that night and the day that they could stay for one night.
Besides Angela's mother there were a lot of people who helped the McCourts. The guard who show them stranded on the streets of Dublin he took them to the barraks so they can spend the night in there and later they collect money so they can travel to Limerick. The guards and the segeant's wife helped the McCourts from their heart because they were not family,it was the first time they saw them and they helped.Once in Limerick the St.Vincent de Paul Society helped by giving cuopons for foods but the help wasn't from the hearts they help because they were afraid of losing more catholics
The pastor help them before anybody else and he did it purposely because they were church member this help came from the bottom of his heart. He took them to his house and they were well treated by his wife, St vincent de paul socienty help the Mccourts with love that God has told us to have for our neighbor , by giving food, moraly, financialy at thier best, It's what they supposed to do as a good christain.

I think Nora went with Angela to hepl her, but at the same time, because she Knew the woman likes to be rise, Nora started acomplissing Mrs. Mc.Grath so she could get at the end the cigarretes (she loves to smoke). Erika
